The objective of this research work has been highly effective in improving the research skills of the participants of this study. The results, compared with national and international precedents, highlight the positive impact of the program and suggest its applicability and relevance in different educational contexts. The variabilities between demographic groups underline the importance of personalized educational strategies. These findings contribute to the global understanding of effective interventions to improve research skills in academic environments. Also, the results of this study underline the critical importance of developing research skills in university students, since the findings show that many students enter higher education with a low level of research skills, as observed in 76.4% of the participants in the pretest. This lack can limit their ability to succeed in university and in their future professional careers. The results of the hypothesis tests support the effectiveness of the intervention. In particular, the difference between the pretest and posttest groups was statistically significant for all dimensions of research skills, with p values less than 0.05 in all tests. This study contributes to both the national and international literature in terms of the importance of addressing the gap in research competencies. At the national level, it supports the need to prepare students for research in the Peruvian context. At the international level, it adds to the evidence that research-based approaches are effective for the development of these competencies.
