The present research: "Self-esteem and Resentment in first-year high school students of the Educational Institution Lastenia Rejas de Castañon deTacna, 2020", has the general objective of establishing the relationship between self-esteem and resentment in first-year high school students of this educational institution with a non-experimental cross-correlational design. An intentional non-probability sampling was used, with a total of 83 first year high school students, being their ages 12 and 13 years old. For the variable self-esteem and resentments, the survey technique was applied, as an instrument the Self- Esteem Questionnaire for Schoolchildren and the Inventory of Resentment (IAhv-ER), both of Peruvian origin. Regarding the findings, both variables are related, while the results show that 69.9% have low self-esteem and 85.5% have resentment (negative attitude towards life); in the emotions and motivation dimension: 100% show resentment. The results of the statistical analysis (Pearson's correlation) show the significance of p = 0.000; this allows to point out that the relationship is significant.
