The purpose of this qualitative study was to understand how the use of smartphones impacts the processes of learning by competences of students of the Faculty of Administration and Business, in the Careers for Working People modality of the Technological University of Peru, specifically, in the Lima South Campus. As part of the methodology, the research used exploratory design, case studies. The data collection instruments were: the participant's observation of the researcher, in-depth interviews, focus group as well as the collection of relevant data and documents that will contribute to the study. As techniques for data analysis, triangulation of information, concept comparison, individual case analysis, cross-sectional analysis as well as an inductive sequence or also called coding process were used. Among the main results were various benefits in the development of conceptual, procedural and attitudinal learning by CGT students, while all of them were motivated by teachers and the institution of higher education. The originality of the study is based on the description of the most important intervening elements in the process of learning by competencies in university students of the blended modality, Careers for Working People.
