The objective of this research work was presented at the Instituto de Educación Superior Tecnológico Público San Martín de Pangoa, entitled Effectiveness of the horror stories module in the reading comprehension of Technical Nursing students. It develops a pedagogical intervention proposal based on reading modules to improve the written comprehension and production of students. The quantitative route chose the applied type study, with a quasi-experimental design scheme; for data collection, the pretest and posttest instruments were used, applied to the experimental and control groups. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to contrast the hypotheses. In the entrance tests, the distribution was homogeneous in all group categories, showing no significant difference; but in the exit tests, a calculated p-value = 0.000 was obtained, which was lower than the tabulated confidence level = 0.05, accepting the alternate hypothesis, which meant that the distribution of the posttest marked a significant difference in the exit test. The same occurred with specific hypothesis 1, whose significance level was p-value = 0.001 calculated was less than the tabulated confidence level p = 0.05; and with specific hypothesis 2, whose significance level p = 0.000 calculated was less than the tabulated confidence level p = 0.05, accepting, in both cases, the alternative hypothesis. On the other hand, with specific hypothesis 3 the opposite occurred; the significance value p-value = 0.969 calculated was greater than the tabulated confidence level p = 0.05, accepting the null hypothesis. It was found that the distribution of the posttest is homogeneous and there is no significant difference. They found that fear is a way that shows the experiences represented in the extraordinary stories loaded with subjectivity.
