In the present thesis, an evaluation of the safety culture of the workers of a footwear company located in the city of Arequipa was carried out and at the same time the influence it has on the work accident rate, where the corrective measures were determined in order to reduce the accident rate in the company, by means of a survey of the workers' perception of the safety culture, with which the level of the safety culture of the workers was initially determined, resulting in a low level, and also within the problems of the company we see that in the year 2018 in the company occurred a total of 31accidents, so it was necessary to implement an improvement plan to correct and increase the level of safety culture and at the same time be reflected in the accident rates, after some corrective measures taken, the survey of perception of safety culture was again applied, which made the comparison of before and after, obtaining favorable results by applying the second survey and thus improving the accident rate. The research thesis is of the applied type and its respective level is descriptive and correlational, the methods used in the research are analytical and its design is quasi-experimental. It is concluded that the reduction of the accident rate by means of the increase of culture is significant according to the data shown in the culture score, since in the initial evaluation it was 2.49, which indicates that there was a low security culture obtaining in the evaluation man hours a registry of 31accidents of all type that led to 22lost days with an accident rate of 127accidents for every 100 men and after the implementation of the improvement design it was possible to obtain a level of culture of 4.16, which had as indicator a high safety culture, in the final evaluation of man hours according to the registry it was only shown threeslight accidents without lost days and consequently with an index of accident rate of 0 for every 100 men. With these figures we can demonstrate that the safety culture influences the work accident rate.
