Latin America is currently the scene of growing and increasingly established opposition to policies favoring gender equality. In this context, Peru was the site of controversy over the Gender Approach in the National Curriculum of Basic School Education. As part of this, a dispute between Con Mis Hijos No Te Metas, the main opponent of the gender approach, and the Ministry of Education, the public body in charge of implementing the curriculum, arose at the communication level. This research aims to analyze the relationship between the communication deployments of both actors regarding the gender approach in the school curriculum from April 2018 to May 2019. The study begins by identifying the communication frames used in each actor's deployment based on the content published on Twitter, the speeches given in public spaces, and the statements in the media. Moreover, the second stage of the analysis focuses on the types of communication actions implemented, the communication spaces activated, and the communicative scope of their actions. As a result, the interactions between both actors are identified regarding their communication deployments. This research shows that the communication deployments of both actors are reactive to each other’s interventions. The state actor seems inclined toward dialogue, while the collective adopts a confrontational strategy without a predisposition to negotiate. Con Mis Hijos No Te Metas also advocates for strategic secularism, prioritizing arguments based on science and biology. Furthermore, despite their opposing positions on the gender approach, both actors align on the binary conception of sex and gender.
