A market is an important urban landmark in a city, since its commercial character leads to the development of social relationships that, in the long term, shape the collective memory of the place, because through the products sold, its history and the customs of the users, a market conditions and consolidates the social activity of a neighborhood. In addition, a market is also a backbone element of the urban fabric of the city, due to its characteristic of landmark, besides being an open and accessible space for all where communities, activities and cultures coexist, maintaining links of cooperation and complementarity. Therefore, a market should function as a place of commercial and social centrality, whose purpose is: to provide spaces that allow commercial exchange, to function as a space for public use, that considers its context, and that allows interaction to improve community life. This final year project presents the current state of the San Vicente de Cañete market, its importance in the district, its problems at different scales and the urban dynamics that occur as a result of the interaction between users and the current state of the equipment. In order to approach the subject, we start from the recognition of 3 variables: the particular place, which is the Model Market in the district of San Vicente de Cañete; the architectural interest, where the theory of dialogic memory and its relationship with the landscape of the place are taken into account; and the program, which satisfies the needs of the merchants and consumers. The analysis of the 3 variables defines the theme of the research and the purpose of the architectural project: the San Vicente de Cañete Model Market as a public space, which is developed through the reinterpretation of the landscape and its memory in the architecture.
