The research aims to determine the impacts of illegal gold mining on the sustainable development of the Madre de Dios Region. Regarding the methodology, a type of applied research has been considered. The non-experimental design corresponds to the descriptive level research and considers the total population dedicated to illegal mining in the Madre de Dios Region. Among the techniques used are: the observation techniques that were carried out through the analysis of documents and visits to places of study in the Madre de Dios Region; those of direct collection that was carried out by means of the compilation of existing information in bibliographical sources, magazines, newspapers and public dependencies like Ministry of Agriculture, Health, Environment, Energy and Mines, the National Authority of the Water among others. And the instruments used are observation, summary, tables and one-dimensional charts. To verify the hypothesis of the Study, a mixed methodology was used: Quantitative - Qualitative. The research concludes that Illegal Gold Mining has negative impacts on the sustainable development of the Madre de Dios Region since this activity is causing serious damage to the ecology, the environment, population and the economy of the Region and the country
