This research aimed to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence and stress coping strategies among members of the National Police of Peru. A non-experimental, correlational, cross-sectional design was chosen. The study was conducted using a sample of 110 police officers from a railway security division of the National Police of Peru. The Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Test (WLEIS) and the Multidimensional Coping Inventory (COPE) were administered. It was found that emotional intelligence has a significant correlation with coping strategies (rho = 0.23; p < 0.01). Similarly, the dimensions of emotional intelligence showed significance values lower than 0.05, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.15 to 0.21. This suggests that if police officers increase their coping strategies, their emotional intelligence will improve.
