This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about type II diabetes mellitus and self-care practices in patients attended at the Centro Materno Infantil Manuel Barreto, Lima 2024. Methodology: Quantitative, non-experimental design, with a cross-sectional correlational approach. A hypothetical-deductive method of applied type was used. The population consisted of 154 patients, and a sample of 110 was taken. To measure the level of knowledge about type II diabetes mellitus, the "Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ/24)" was used, which consists of 24 questions divided into three dimensions. To assess self-care practices, a questionnaire with 26 items distributed across five dimensions was employed. Spearman’s Rho was used to correlate the two variables. Results: In the analysis of the basic knowledge dimension of the disease, there were inadequate self-care practices with a medium level of knowledge in 70.9%. In the glycemic control dimension, there were inadequate self-care practices with a medium level of knowledge in 67.3%. In the complication prevention dimension, there were inadequate self-care practices with a medium level of knowledge in 69.1%. In the overall knowledge level analysis, there were inadequate self-care practices with a medium level of knowledge in 65.5%. Conclusion: Given that the correlation level is 0.014, it was concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between knowledge about type II diabetes mellitus and self-care practices among patients at the Centro Materno Infantil Manuel Barreto, Lima, in 2024.
