Objective: To analyze microalbuminuria is a biochemical marker of preeclampsia in pregnant women between 20 and 28 weeks of gestational age. Material and methods: observational, analytical, longitudinal, prospective cohort study in 92 pregnant women with risk factors for preeclampsia present. Results: 92 patients were included in the analysis. In 42 patients positive microalbuminuria was detected and 38 of them developed preeclampsia; Of the 50 patients whose microalbuminuria was negative, 8 developed preeclampsia. It was determined that the proportion of pregnant women with positive microalbuminuria was 45.65% and those who developed preeclampsia was 41.30%. On the other hand, the proportion of pregnant women without microalbuminuria was 54.35% and those who developed preeclampsia was 8.69%. Therefore, there is a Relative Risk of 5.6 times with a confidence interval of 95% of 2.97 - 10.75 to develop preeclampsia in pregnant patients with positive microalbuminuria. Conclusions: The determination of microalbuminuria has a positive association to predict preeclampsia in pregnant women with risk factors.
