Abstract: Objetivo: Determinar si las Competencias en Medicina Basada en la Evidencia
programa estadístico (9.48 puntos; IC95% 3.32 a 15.66).
Objective: To determine whether EBM competencies and attitudes towards research improve after an EBM curricular course, as well as the association between both variables, in the cohort of students exposed to it compared to cohorts of unexposed students. Material and methods: The present research have a longitudinal, analytical, prospective cohort design. To evaluate the attitude to research variable, the Attitude Scale towards Research was used for its measurement, and for the Competences in Evidence-Based Medicine the Fresno Questionnaire. Results: 230 students were included: 57 in Exposed Cohort, 28 in Unexposed Cohort 1 and 145 in Unexposed Cohort 2. The score on the Fresno Questionnaire improved significantly (p<0.001) in the exposed cohort with a large effect size. There was no significant change in the score of the Attitude Scale towards the research. The variables that increased the score in the Fresno Questionnaire at the end of the study were the exposed Cohort (11.30 points; CI95%: 4.54 to 18.06), belong to the period of clinical science studies (7.69 points; CI95% 1.27 to 14.11) and manage a statistical program (9.48 points; CI95% 3.32 to 15.66). Conclusions: An evidence-based Medicine curricular course managed to improve the level of competencies in this area; However, it did not generate changes in the attitude towards the investigation. The variables that managed to predict a better score in the Fresno Questionnaire were belonging to the exposed Cohort, the period of study of clinical sciences and managing a statistical program.
