Identify risk factors associated with bronchiolitis in children under two years admitted to the pediatric ward of the Regional Hospital of Trujillo, during the months of October 2013 to October 2015. Methods: A study of analytical, observational, retrospective, case-control type was carried out. The study population consisted of 172 patients children under 2 years according to inclusion and exclusion criteria established divided into two groups: with and without bronchiolitis. Results: The statistical analysis of the variables studied as risk factors were: male gender (OR: 1.77 ; p < 0.05) , age < 6 months ( OR: 2.12 ; p < 0.05) , low birth weight (OR : 2.05 ; p < 0.05) , preterm birth (OR : 2.11 ; p < 0.05) , non-exclusive breastfeeding (OR : 2.33 ; p < 0.05 ), (OR : 2.88 ; p < 0.05), having an adolescent mother (OR : 2.34 ; p < 0.05 ) , non-university maternal instruction ( OR : 3.15 ; p < 0.05). Conclusions: The non-exclusive maternal male gender, younger age 6 months, low birth weight, breastfeeding, prematurity, adolescent mother, domestic passive smoking, degree of non-university maternal education are risk factors for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years in the Regional Educational Hospital of Trujillo.
