Resumen: Objetivo: Determinar si el vitíligo es factor asociado a diabetes mellitus en pacientes
del Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
Material y Métodos: Se llevó a cabo un estudio de tipo analítico, observacional,
retrospectivo, seccional, transversal. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por
148 pacientes quienes se dividieron en 2 grupos: con diabetes mellitus o sin esta
patología; se aplicó la prueba de chi cuadrado y el cálculo del odds ratio.
Resultados: No se registraron diferencias significativas con respecto a la edad , género
y procedencia entre pacientes con diabetes mellitus o sin esta condición (p<0.05). La
frecuencia de vitíligo en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 fue de 29%. La
frecuencia de vitíligo en pacientes sin diabetes mellitus tipo 2 fue de 8%. El vitíligo
es factor asociado a diabetes mellitus tipo 2 con un odds ratio de 4.6 el cual fue
significativo (p<0.05).
Conclusiones: El vitíligo es factor asociado a diabetes mellitus en pacientes del
Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
