In order to determine the effectiveness of an educational workshop on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections in pregnant women in the district hospital “St. Elizabeth“ of the future, in 2014; a quasi-experimental study was conducted in a sample of 60 pregnant women selected by simple random method. We worked with two groups, each consisting of 30 pregnant women. Applying educational workshop only the case group; to identify the level of knowledge level in pregnant women a questionnaire was used, then the educational workshop was developed using participatory techniques to achieve a better understanding, to evaluate the results of the intervention was applied the same questionnaire one month after the educational intervention, analyzing changes in knowledge before and after. We found that: The level of knowledge about STIs, STI prevention: proper use of condoms and personal hygiene was poor in 80% and 86.7% before the intervention, after it was changed significantly since raised their knowledge, which we consider essential for pregnant women change their level of knowledge about STI prevention. There is significant evidence to conclude that the implementation of the Education Workshop is effective in the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections in Pregnant Women. It is necessary to strengthen the ministries, improve teaching strategies and implement the educational package in the comprehensive care of pregnant women during their antenatal counseling on these topics.
