The objective of this study was to determine the antibacterial effect in vitro of ethanol extract of Caesalpinia Spinosa (Tara) on Streptococcus mutans ATCC 35668. The sample consisted of 64 observations in 4 groups of 4 Petri dishes each, on each plate the percentage concentration of study, compared with three controls are placed: positive control (Chlorhexidine 0.12%), negative control (Ethanol) and a percentage of similar concentration (for comparison). The results showed that the concentration of 30% ethanolic extract of Caesalpinia halo showed the greatest inhibition (34.5 mm) and minimum inhibitory concentration. This research concludes that the ethanol extract of Caesalpinia Spinosa (Tara) has in vitro antibacterial effect on Streptococcus mutans ATCC 35668.
