Currently, in the La Libertad region, there is a demand for water resources that exceeds the available supply. The present thesis was carried out in the Barrio Nuevo sector, Victor Larco Distric, Trujillo Province, the irrigation canal consists of 1 + 355 kilometers, this canal is several years old and is made up of natural earth, with the passage of time the structure has become inefficient and requires improvement, also erosion and seepage problems that worsen the current water deficit. In this sense, the main objective of this study is to carry out the hydraulic design of the Barrio Nuevo irrigation canal in the Victor Larco District to optimize the efficiency of the hydraulic conduction. For which we begin with an observation of the channel to see the state it is in. The soil mechanics study was carried out to determine the type of soil in the canal section. It has a soil composed of sands with silt, sandy, poorly graded sands, with an average moisture content of 16.88%. For the design, a flow rate of 0.16 m3 / s was calculated; the channel was designed for a supercritical flow of trapezoidal section of 0.70 meters of base, of 0.24 meters with a thickness of 0.10 meters, width of the berm 0.25 meters. The canal will be built with cyclopean concrete of 175 kg / cm2 with an expansion joint every 4 meters. After having analyzed the results obtained, we proceeded to formulate conclusions and recommendations of the work carried out, which would help to improve the efficient use of water in the sector.
