To establish the preoperative factors associated with postoperative pain and consumption of analgesics in patients operated on by laparoscopic cholecystectomy at Hospital Belen de Trujillo Methodology A prospective, cross-sectional, analytical, correlational study was carried out. The study population consisted of 96 patients from Hospital Belen at Trujillo who underwent scheduled laparoscopic cholecystectomy during the months of June 2019 to February 2021 who met the selection criteria. The data was obtained by conducting a survey prepared by the author, as well as by using the patients' medical records. Results: The present study found that preoperative anxiety, preoperative analgesic consumption, comorbidities and age are factors associated with greater intensity of postoperative pain (p <0.05). 62% of the patients operated on by laparoscopic cholecystectomy were women, while 38 % men. 55% of the patients presented anxiety before undergoing surgery. Most of the patients reported that they used analgesics (61%) either on some occasions or frequently. Only 26 people had comorbidities, 15 of which were obese and 10 had high blood pressure. During the preoperative period, it was found that 60% of the patients presented moderate pain. Conclusions: The findings suggest that preoperative anxiety, the consumption of analgesics prior to surgery, the presence of comorbidities and age are factors that are associated with a greater intensity of postoperative pain and a greater requirement of analgesics to relieve pain.
