A substantive research was developed, whose general objective was to determine the relationship between emotional self-regulation and addiction to social networks in psychology students at a private university in Trujillo. For this, we worked with a sample of 238 students of the 1st to 10th cycle of psychology from a private university in Trujillo, of both genders, aged between 17 and 28 years of age, with current enrollment in the period 2019 - II, using for his evaluation of the Emotional Self-Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) by Gross and Jhon (2014) and the Social Network Addiction Scale by Escurra and Salas (1997). The results show that the use of the cognitive re-evaluation strategy of the emotional self regulation variable predominates in the study subjects; Likewise, a medium level predominates in the variable addiction to social networks, as well as in its dimensions. In addition, it was possible to determine that there is a highly significant (p<.01), negative correlation between emotional self-regulation and addiction to social networks in human medicine students at a private university in Trujillo.
