This work focuses on the application of Autonomous Maintenance and SMED to improve the Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) in the palm oil extraction line in an oil company. The application of both tools is carried out in the digester whose initial OEE measurement was 75.12%. Autonomous Maintenance was applied in order to reduce failure’s repair times (MTTR) that reduces the available factor. To do this, potential maintenance activities that plant operators could carry out without the need for maintenance personnel were identified and an action plan was created for them to execute. SMED was applied to reduce configuration times (set-up time) of the equipment. It was possible to identify the activities carried out in the configuration in order to classify them as internal and external. Subsequently, internal activities were converted and those that had no value within the process were eliminated. With the application of Autonomous Maintenance, failure’s repair times (MTTR) was reduced from 11.80 hours/breakdown to 4.59 hours/breakdown, achieving a reduction of 61.10%. And with the application of SMED, the setup time could be reduced from 1081 seconds to 319.21 seconds, achieving a reduction of 70.44%. With all this, the OEE increased by 14.47%.
