The absence of Afro-descendant people in cinema has evolved over time, going from being initially excluded to a greater presence today. However, this generates debates about the way these communities are represented. In this context, the intention of this research is to analyze how young people from Lima perceive social inclusion in the live action version of The Little Mermaid. For the purposes of obtaining information, two focus groups were held, with people who self-identify as afro-descendants and people who do not. This was done in order to establish whether this new version of such an acclaimed film goes hand in hand with the concept of social inclusion. The conclusion reached after this research is that, regardless of their identification, young people from Lima perceive that the inclusion of an Afro-descendant person in the role of Ariel was correct and credible, but at the same time the doubts were generated about this decision.
