Conflict is a social phenomenon that arises from the interaction between two or more parties with incompatible objectives, resulting in a dispute. This phenomenon is closely related to personality traits, as they influence how individuals perceive, interpret, and manage conflict situations. The present research aims to determine whether there is a relationship between conflict resolution and personality traits in university students in Lima. This study is simple correlational research with an associative strategy and a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 209 participants, of whom 32.5% (68) were men and 67.5% (141) were women. The instruments employed were the Conflict Resolution Scale (ESOC) and the Mini International Personality Item Pool (mini-IPIP), duly validated for the Peruvian population. The results revealed no correlation between the two variables. However, statistically significant differences were found between the outcome evaluation dimension and the openness dimension (r = 0.5; p < .05). Furthermore, when comparing both variables by sex, significant differences were observed in the agreeableness trait, with women (M = 15.5, SD = 3.02) scoring higher than men (M = 14.1, SD = 3.18). In contrast, men scored higher in the neuroticism trait (M = 13.3, SD = 3.5) compared to women (M = 11.8, SD = 2.86).
