This work develops a portable electronic device designed for the inspection and visual monitoring of underground ducts in mines. The main objective is to conduct inspections before workers enter chimneys with depths ranging from 50 to 300 meters, helping to reduce safety risks. These structures, used in mining operations such as diameter widening, lack reliable evaluation systems. The device will allow the collection of images from within the ducts and the recording of the exact height of any detected irregularities, aiding geologists in making informed decisions. The device design includes a small single-board computer for image processing, a digital camera with integrated lighting, batteries for portability, and electronic components for measuring depth and other relevant parameters. Key features of the device include the ability to capture images at great depths without information loss, low maintenance costs, and efficient analysis of the chimneys’ condition using digital image processing techniques.
