This case study addresses the issue of poor inventory management in a mass consumption company, which generated economic losses due to expired products, excessive time spent searching for goods, and a lack of accuracy in records. The main objective is to implement a continuous improvement model in inventory management using the 5S and FIFO methodologies along with an ERP system, with the aim of reducing costs and increasing the company’s net profit. The study evaluates the impact of each methodology: the implementation of 5S improves warehouse organization, reducing search times from 17 to 9 minutes, while FIFO optimizes product flow to minimize expirations, achieving an 8.04% decrease in expired products. In addition, the ERP system helps increase inventory record accuracy (ERI), reaching 97.28%, which reduces administrative errors and losses due to stockouts. The results indicate that the proposed model enables more effective inventory management, as evidenced by a reduction in operating costs and an increase in net profit. The contribution of this work lies in the integration of methodologies and technology that optimize resources, providing a replicable approach for companies seeking to improve inventory control and reduce losses.
