The present investigation takes place in the city of Cusco, specifically in the housing complex Villa Unión Huancaro. This project depicts the problems faced due to subsurface water presence with water tables close to ground level. To address this, soil studies were conducted to describe the bearing capacity of the soil and determine soil permeability, as well as other relevant characteristics to solve the problem. The proposed solution involves designing a subsurface drainage network combined with geotextiles to enhance the soil's bearing capacity and provide protection to the pipe system. The pipes will be connected to a manhole, from which water will be pumped by suction using a pump and then discharged through the drainage system in the area. The design considers terrain parameters, such as the direction of water flow in the area, which is crucial for the implementation of the drainage system. Additionally, design proposals were developed for two other scenarios. The first one is in Lima and the other in Huánuco. Finally, a subsurface drainage system design was successfully created, taking into consideration the water flow in the study areas, as it determines the collection of groundwater. The hypothesis regarding the design of subsurface drains was tested through studies and comparisons, confirming its economic viability and long-term sustainability compared to other models in the market.
