This initiative culminated in the successful implementation of a Business Intelligence (BI) system within a multinational food industry corporation, significantly improving information accessibility across diverse organizational domains. The rapid and efficient access to data has transformed information into a strategic asset, propelling informed decision-making and markedly enhancing supply chain operations' efficiency. The primary focus was on mitigating food waste in the supply chain, which previously resulted in the loss of over 210 million tons of food, translating to a substantial quantitative financial loss exceeding $62 million. Following the implementation and decisions guided by insights from Power BI visualizations, a remarkable reduction of over 43% was achieved, thereby mitigating the economic impact by approximately $27 million. The implementation of a Data Lake architecture or repository proved indispensable for processing structured and semi-structured data, necessitating the utilization of a suite of Azure services encompassing data access, storage, and processing. Furthermore, the project's validation involved a series of stages, engaging business users for their approval and providing technical users with comprehensive training. The effectiveness of this process was facilitated by detailed documentation and live demonstrations, with compliance records playing a pivotal role in successfully validating this project milestone. This comprehensive approach, underscored by the integration of advanced technologies and strategic decision-making, not only optimized supply chain operations but also underscored the transformative potential of a well-implemented BI solution in a complex and dynamic business environment.
