The primary purpose of this study is to achieve the average index of credit validation for pre-professional internships of students in the most critical program during the 2022-02 and 2023-01 academic periods. The research focuses on analyzing the issues associated with the validation of pre-professional internships at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC). To carry out this analysis, a methodology based on the examination of the content from the job opportunities database of the mentioned periods has been employed. A quantitative approach has been used to assess credit validation by program and specific academic cycles, providing a precise insight into the issue. In this context, it has been observed that the Engineering in Mining Management program has the most critical index, with 69.33% of its students failing to validate their pre-professional internships by the tenth cycle. These students face significant challenges, and this issue negatively impacts the graduation process for students in this program. Several contributing factors have been identified, such as the scarcity of opportunities available in the mining sector for pre-professional trainees, as preference is given to professional trainees. Additionally, the requirement of a work schedule often conflicting with class schedules, even in the later virtual cycles, highlights an incompatibility between UPC's validation criteria and sector demands.
