Peru is a country with high seismic activity due to its proximity to the Nazca and South American plate boundaries. On the other hand, there are currently 54,800 schools in Peru, 76% of which require structural reinforcement or demolition and 21,100 schools are at extreme risk. In turn, educational centers fulfill the structural function of serving as safe places in the event of a seismic event. Because of this condition, it is important to analyze whether the school modules or pavilions comply with the minimum structural conditions according to current regulations. Therefore, this thesis evaluates the structural condition by means of a qualitative method used by different authors and another quantitative method based on the Peruvian seismic-resistant standard E030. After that, a quantitative methodology will be used because designs will be used to analyze the certainty of the hypothesis. In order to use this methodology, the educational institution Nester Scudery Otero 169 located in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho was selected.
