In this research work, a comparative structural analysis is carried out between a retaining wall and several variants in terms of the locations and dimensions of the openings for sewer pipes. This comparison involves the determination of safety factors related to the risk of overturning and sliding, to identify the most critical design. Subsequently, an evaluation is carried out between the most critical design and the pre-sizing considering influences of static and dynamic forces in terms of displacement. To carry out this evaluation, structural simulations are carried out in Ansys software. In this way, the study provides us with information about how the openings in the retaining wall influence its structural resistance capacity. Understanding this behavior and its influence is essential when considering this aspect during the design phase, especially in projects where it is necessary for sewer pipes to pass through the retaining wall due to relocation restrictions.
