The aim of this thesis is to analyze and design a roundabout proposal between Carlos Izaguirre and 200 Millas Avenues, which is an urban zone characterized by high vehicular congestion. In this study, the solution and development of the proposal are elaborated through a micro-simulation, with the objective of evaluating the current situation and making a comparison with the design proposal. The design process is based on parameters established by the Geometric Design of Roundabout manual from the United Kingdom and the High Capacity Manual-2010 (HCM). The micro-simulation was carried out using VISSIM software and was calibrated using the calculus of Global Error of Hemendy (GEH), allowing a precise representation of traffic volumes observed in the field. Finally, a comparative analysis between the current situation and the proposal design through the evaluation of intersection capacity as a key indicator. The proposed solution demonstrated a significant improvement in the intersection by elevating its service level from “C” (deficient) to “A” (excellent), which serves as a positive indicator of the effectiveness of the proposed road improvements in this study.
