In the absence of resources that include non-conventional materials that can be used as a filler or borrow component in paving works, which causes these inputs to be transported from other quarries far from the site of the work, affecting the environment when exploiting them. The purpose of this research is to improve the resistance of the silty sandy soil with the inclusion of recycled PET, since PET has become a disposable material that is causing damage to the ecosystem, since these single-use plastics are thrown into the ocean, rivers or landfills as sanitary landfills. For this reason, in order to solve the problem of the silty sandy soil in the district of Villa el Salvador and to provide an adequate destination for PET, tests were carried out in a laboratory before and after the improvement, for which PET was used in percentages of 0%, 2%, 4% and 6%, respectively. Likewise, the Granulometry, Modified Proctor and CBR tests were used for the development of the research. Finally, the improvement in the resistance of the silty sandy soil with the different percentages of PET was evaluated, finding that with the inclusion of 2% of PET the minimum requirements of the road manual were met for use as an alternative loan material for a granular subbase in paving works.
