Route N ° LA-676 Path EMP. PE-1N (Simón Bolívar) - EMP. LA-721 in the province of Chiclayo, department of Lambayeque, has a history of poor drainage on the roads due to high rainfall in the seasons of the “El Niño Costero” phenomenon. This event has affected the comfort of citizens and has reduced the level of serviceability for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. This thesis focuses on the application of an innovative construction that eliminates the problems generated by this natural phenomenon. For this, it is proposed to implement a special pavement that presents good structural characteristics and a correct drainage system and also presents low construction and maintenance costs. Rigid draining pavement allows water to infiltrate and flow through the pavement surface where it can be stored and allowed to slowly return to the local groundwater system or drainage system. In this research, it develops the structural design of a flexible, rigid and rigid draining pavement is carried out for 20 years in the study area, using design methodologies from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Asphalt Institute (IA) and Portland Cement Association (PCA). In addition, it develops the initial construction cost and the cost of routine and periodic maintenance during the project period are economically compared. Finally, it is shown that the rigid draining pavement is the best technical and economical alternative for 1 km of paving of the road in question, since a cost reduction of S/. 1,335,093.48 and S/. 253,812.68 compared to flexible pavement and rigid pavement respectively.
