Objectives: Determine the association of self-perception in periodontal health with de use of electronic cigarettes in the youth of Metropolitan Lima during 2021. Materials and Methods: This study was designed observational, analytical, and cross-sectional. 189 young people from 18 to 29 years old who resided in Metropolitan Lima during 2021 were evaluated. To evaluate the periodontal self-report, Quiroz V et al. questionnaire was used, in which 13 questions were used divided into two dimensions (habits and periodontal perception). The questionnaire was used for the association of the qualitative variables and the calculation of the crude and adjusted prevalence ratios, the Poisson regression with robust variance was used. We worked with a level of significance of p<00.5 and a confidence interval of 95% Result: It was found that 29.73% of the participants who use the vaping device have a poor perception of gum health. A statistically significant association was established between the perception of gum health with vaping use both in the crude analysis (RP=0.81; CI 95%: 0.69-0.95) (p=0.011) and the adjusted for covariates (RP=0.82; CI 95% 0.69-0.97) (p=0.021). For the dimensions of bleeding during toothbrushing and reddish and /or swollen gums, no association was observed. Conclusions: A relationship was found between poor perception of gum health with the use of electronic cigarettes.
