Objectives: Describe knowledge, attitudes and practices on sexual and reproductive health in a population affected by an epidemic outbreak of Zika in 2017 in the district of Pueblo Nuevo, Chincha. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out using as a tool a local adaptation of the “Survey of knowledge, attitudes and practices: Zika and its possible complications” developed by WHO. Residents who had a positive molecular test result (RT PCR) for Zika were surveyed during the outbreak. Results: The most identified symptom was fever in 76.32% of cases. 91.4% could recognize the transmission mechanism mediated by the vector. 31.91% expressed the sexual route of transmission. Regarding the consequences for the fetus, 54.26% said that there is a risk that they will be born with some type of disability, 36.17% that they have some type of developmental deficit and 54.25% said that there is a risk that they will be born with microcephaly. 50% of the population wrongly stated that part of the treatment for Zika virus disease includes the use of antibiotics. To reduce vector transmission, the use of repellent represented 52.13% and the use of mosquito nets, 42.55%. Condom use accounted for 22.34% and sexual abstinence, 7.4%. Conclusions: Our results allow us to conclude that apparently the information provided regarding secondary prevention has not been fully understood by the population studied, which leads to the persistence of risk practices and the disease continues to be transmitted in the population.
