The present study focused on identifying the relationship between difficulties in emotional regulation and academic stress in university students after confinement due to COVID-19 and the resumption of classes. The population was made up of young Lima university students between 18 and 25 years old from a private Lima university. Data collection was through institutional emails, being a cross-sectional correlational non-experimental study. The measurement instruments used were the Peruvian adaptation of the Emotional Regulation Difficulties Scale (Magallanes & Sialer, 2019) and the Academic Stress Inventory (SISCO) adapted in Lima by Jabel (2017). The findings obtained showed a medium-high correlation of .604 between the study variables, which implies that the difficulty of emotional regulation in students is associated with the appearance of academic stress.
