Tick-borne diseases are a significant health concern in companion animals, representing a primary reason for veterinary consultation in northern Lima. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics of canine patients with a presumptive diagnosis of tick-borne diseases and their response to treatment in a veterinary clinic in the district of Carabayllo from 2019 to 2022. A total of 132 clinical histories of patients with indications of vector-borne diseases, including a history of tick infestation, compatible signs and symptoms, and plateletopenia and/or anemia, were analyzed. The primary reason for consultation was behavioral change (37.1%, 49/132), followed by decreased appetite (36.4%, 48/132). The most prevalent clinical manifestations were lethargy (58.3%, 77/132) and fever (50.7%, 67/132). The most notable hematological abnormalities were severe thrombocytopenia (54.5%, 72/132) and anemia (58.3%, 77/132). Antibiotic therapy was effective in 68.2% (90/132) of the patients. The clinical characteristics of most canine patients evaluated for tick-borne diseases were nonspecific and consistent with those previously described, compatible with Anaplasma or Ehrlichia infections, due to their satisfactory response to antibiotic treatment in an area of Lima with a high prevalence.
