Introduction: Cerebral palsy is one of the causes of motor disability, so it is important to assess their abilities or skills. Patients have difficulty in organizing the gait pattern, being relevant to use some kind of biomechanical aid, such as a lower limb de-rotator orthosis. Objectives: To describe the considerations for the use of a lower limb disrotator orthosis in a 7-year-old boy with cerebral palsy in the Callao region in 2022. Description of the work: A physiotherapeutic intervention was performed in a child diagnosed with ataxic cerebral palsy, where a de-rotational orthosis was used in different physical activities and in the reduction of the gait pattern. Main findings: After the physiotherapeutic intervention, with the help of the orthosis and with the therapeutic physical exercises at the same time, a greater dissociation between the upper and lower limbs was evidenced, as well as a better trunk and head control. Conclusion: The prescription of a de-rotating orthosis, accompanied by re-educational physical activity, provided positive results in the control of the axial axis, dissociation of movements in the extremities, alignment of the hip, knee, ankle-foot, increasing their functional independence capabilities.
