--- OBJECTIVE: To determine the knowledge and attitudes about internal vertical delivery in Obstetrics from the National University of San Marcos - Year 2015. METHODOLOGY: studio with mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative) for the qualitative phase, a descriptive study and the quantitative phase with descriptive observational study design, cross section. The population consisted of inmates in obstetrics, for quantitative phase consisted of 74 internal and for qualitative phase 6 internal different venues. In the qualitative phase analysis interviews were recorded, using a qualitative analysis program Atlas-ti and in quantitative phase analysis SPSS v.22 doing a descriptive analysis (average and frequencies). RESULTS: The level of knowledge about vertical delivery: was 37.8%half, low 31.1% and high at 31.1%. According to the size about definitions and a vertical delivery positions, 85.1% of inmates have a level of knowledge “Medium“ and 9.5% level “High“. Regard to dimension on Advantages and Disadvantages vertical delivery, 43.2% of inmates have a level of knowledge “High“ and 28.4% a level “Medium“. About the size of indications and contraindications vertical delivery, 44.6% of inmates aware “Medium“ and 36.5% a level “Low“. 65.7% of inmates have favorable attitudes toward vertical delivery and 34.3% unfavorable attitudes. As to the vertical delivery 86.5% have an “unfavorable attitude since, most of them did not feel qualified or trained to perform this mode of delivery, as to the opinion on the cultural aspects of attention vertical delivery, 73% of inmates show a “Pro“ attitude, because the internal view that: vertical delivery must be made not only in rural areas, but should be practiced and promoted nationally. With regard to respect for the choice of vertical delivery 71.6% have a “favorable“ attitude, as expressed that the implementation of an exclusive atmosphere or service where this mode of delivery was bid, regarding the psycho aspects needed 60.8% of obstetrics inmates in have a “favorable“ attitude, as domestic suggested as a strategy for a full enjoyment of labor. CONCLUSIONS: The level of knowledge about the vertical delivery in most internal obstetric National University of San Marcos in 2015 was “Medium“ (37.8%) and attitudes were “favorable“ at 65.7%.
