OBJECTIVE: To determine the influence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in obtaining Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This research task has a non-experimental, co-relational design, it was about a cross-sectional comparative study at an explanatory level. In this research work the study population was made up of 20 people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and 20 healthy people from the Hospital Regional of Cusco, of the two sexes, male and female, who satisfy the selection criteria. The observation technique was used, by disinfection of the puncture site, venipuncture, blood extraction, transfer of samples into centrifuge tubes, centrifugation (3000 rpm upwards - 10min) in the Duo Quattro centrifuge, component separation, fibrin clot extraction, measuring of the clot obtained in milliliters with a test tube. RESULTS: It was observed that according to the “t student” test, there were no statistically significant differences associated with sex in patients with Type 2 Mellitus Diabetes from the Regional Hospital of Cusco. It was observed that according to the “ANOVA” test, there were no statistically significant differences associated with age in patients with Type 2 Mellitus Diabetes from the Regional Hospital of Cusco. It was observed that according to the “Chi square” test there were statistically significant differences between patients with Type 2 Mellitus Diabetes and the volunteer ones. CONCLUSIONS: According to the values mentioned, the condition of the healthy people and Type 2 Mellitus Diabetes patients does influence in the volume obtained from rich platelet fibrin according to the “Choukron” protocol, but not age nor sex in terms of the volume obtained from rich platelet fibrin.
