The purpose of this research is to find and establish the relationship between attitudes towards mathematics and academic performance of applied science subjects for students of vocational school of civil engineering, the Andean University of Cusco. This research idea, begins following the large number of students who disapprove of the subjects of mathematics and hence the subjects of applied science, trying to explain if there is a connection between the two results or is just coincidence. Look to this research is to first analyze the notes of the subjects of applied science students is called sample and based on that analysis using the survey technique, using an instrument validated by specialists (questionnaire ), 67 students data will be collected, the information will be processed and if you really seek to demonstrate the attitude influences or does not influence academic performance. Many theories have dealt with learning problems, especially in the subject of mathematics and agree that the attitude is one of the factors influencing it, when to perform an activity be it in a positive way (with desire, enthusiasm , joy, trust, etc.) or negative (fearful, reluctantly, pessimism, anger, sadness, etc.). But not only this work seeks the relationship between attitude toward mathematics, but try to reach a little further and see if that attitude transcends applied science courses that are taught mostly in advanced semesters School Civil Engineering professional. What we can say is that with the results, you will have a very good data about academic performance and potential factors influencing high or low student test scores so that appropriate strategies and teaching models then look to they can overcome this weakness, which today is growing. The low, steady academic performance of students from the Professional School of Civil Engineering of the Andean University of Cusco, has to be explained in some way and this work will focus on finding the problem.
