The present thesis objective is to analyze the road safety of a section of urban road; which is made up of a series of avenues and intersections. In this way, mitigating measures are proposed to improve road safety for all users. In this research, the ROAD SAFETY MANUAL 2017 was used, which establishes the measures that all roads must comply with in the project, execution and service phases. The research is made up of 5 chapters plus the glossary, conclusions, recommendations, bibliographies and annexes. The first chapter describes the current situation of the avenues: Abancay, De la Raza, Humberto Vidal Unda and Tomasa Tito Condemayta. Also describes the current situation of the two existing signalized intersections; “Arcopata“ and “Tica Tica“. Generalities of the thesis are also explained and the problems and objectives are established. In the second chapter, the theoretical research is realized, where we collect texts, concepts or descriptions from different authors. The third chapter explains the methodology we used; the tools and procedures that we realize for our data collection are defined. In the fourth chapter, we process the information we obtained in the third chapter and we realized the most important part, which is the inspection of our urban road and traffic light intersections using the check sheets of the 2017 Road Safety Manual. In the fifth chapter, mitigating measures are established to help improve road safety. Solutions are given to each deficiency, in this chapter the detailed proposal is made that includes in a relevant way the recategorization and signaling of the urban road. At the end of the investigation, it was concluded that all the proposed measures mitigate the existing problems of the urban road studied in the most coherent and effective way.
