BACKGROUND: The health personnel of the hospital area who work during the pandemic are exposed to stressors that trigger symptoms and signs of anxiety and depression. This reality has been described in several investigations at the international level METHODS: Observational type study - analytical, cross-sectional, prospective type case control. EXPECTED RESULTS: The incidence of anxiety and depression is high in the health personnel of the hospital area of the Regional Hospital of Cusco who work in the covid and non-covid area during the pandemic period from Febrery to March 2021. The incidence of anxious depressive syndrome is mayor in the covid area staff of this hospital. CONCLUSIONS: The characteristics of anxiety associated with the health personnel of the Regional Hospital of Cusco are the degree of anxiety (mild, moderate and severe); profession (nurse, doctor, medical technologist, obstetrician, cardiologist, pediatrician, internist, pharmaceutical chemist and laboratory technician) and work area (COVID-19 Area and Non-COVID -19 Area) and a low association in relation to the characteristics of the type of contract and sex. The main characteristic was the degree of anxiety with a p <0.00 and secondly the work area with a p <0.002, both of which have a high level of significance. The type of health professional most associated with anxiety are doctors and secondly, nurses. There is a high association between anxiety and the ages grouped in the Regional Hospital of Cusco. The age range most associated with Anxiety is 35 - 38 years and the second most associated is the range of 45 - 47 years. The gender most susceptible to developing anxiety is the male sex. There is a high association between anxiety and the work areas of the Regional Hospital of Cusco. Anxiety has a greater association in the Covid work area, as opposed to the non-Covid-19 work area.
