ingresos.
Price discrimination is a strategy widely used by companies around the world to maximize profits. Faced with heterogeneous consumers, companies can benefit by categorizing or separating them into groups that can be offered different prices. In this scenario, the present investigation seeks to determine the existence of price discrimination (intertemporal and third degree) in the storable goods market of the city of Cusco, and to suggest strategies that increase the benefits perceived by companies through differentiation. of products between consumers and over time. The research uses information on the prices of products purchased by households in the city of Cusco, available in the National Household Survey. The research has a non-experimental design and has a descriptive-correlational scope. The analysis is carried out by applying a regression model with fixed effects at the year, district, cluster and household level, and controls for poverty and socioeconomic stratum. The main results find that there is evidence of the presence of intertemporal price discrimination for the spending groups: Furniture and Appliances (11.17 soles). Third-degree price discrimination has also been identified in all spending groups in the storable goods market, with changes in the home maintenance (15.76 soles), furniture and household goods (19.73 soles) and home equipment (8.74 soles) markets. soles) when comparing the low-income quartile with the high-income quartile.
