Periodontal disease is considered a public health problem worldwide, with Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans being one of the main causes of PAL, with chlorhexidine as an effective agent for combating it, but the pharmacoresistance of many drugs has been seen like this, for which the phytotherapy is a solution for it. The objective of this work was to evaluate the in vitro antibacterial effect of the essential oil of Matricaria chamomilla “Camomila“ at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, in Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, being the type of study: pure experimental, longitudinal laboratorial field. Which was composed of 64 Petri dishes contained with the pure strain of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans ATCC® 29522 ™ which was reactivated in Chocolate Agar and BHI Broth, to be subsequently placed the paper disks embedded in Matricaria chamomilla essential oil in its four different concentrations and be incubated in a medium of anaerobiosis at a temperature of 35ºC. To determine the antibacterial activity, the inhibition zones were measured at 24.48 and 72 hours. For this purpose, the scale according to Duraffourd was used, resulting in the fact that the essential oil of Matricaria chamomilla “Manzanilla“ at 75% presented very sensitive activity (100, 0%) in Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans having an average halo of 15.63mm, likewise according to the ANOVA study with Post Hoc Tukey as p <0.05, has greater effect in comparison with the concentrations of 25%, 50% and 100%.
