The scarcity of water and its inefficient use in the agricultural sector, leads to testing different technologies that seek to reduce the volumes to be used, without causing a greater impact on crop yields. Due to the above, the use of water retainers has been included as a possibility to reduce and mitigate this problem. Therefore, the objectives of the present work were to determine the effect of the sodium polyacrylate polymer in the increase of the yield in Canario beans and to determine its profitability. The cultivation conduction was carried out in a conventional manner. The statistical design used was a Random Complete Block Design with three repetitions. To determine the degree of significance between the doses used, with a p value < 0.05, the MINITAB software was used. Among the results, they stand out that the best fresh weight and dry weight of one hundred seeds was achieved with the dose of 10 and 15 grams respectively. When performing the economic analysis it was determined that the dose of five grams of sodium polyacrylate is the most profitable for this experiment.
