In the production of rice, large amounts of water and nitrogenous fertilizers are used, which in addition to the destruction of the arable layer, entail problems of aquifer and environmental contamination. This research aimed to determine the efficiency of irrigation methods (continuous flooding and intermittent dry) on grain yield in interaction with nitrogen levels (0, 240, 360 kg N ha-1), of three cultivars (IR43, Tinajones and La Puntilla) under direct sowing with a density of 60 kg ha-1. The experimental design used was randomized blocks in divided plots with three factors and three repetitions, analyzed in the Rstudio program, under Duncan's test. The maximum yield (10.14 t ha-1) was obtained with 360 kg N ha-1 by cultivar La Puntilla. Nitrogen levels significantly increased dry matter and grain yield. Nitrogen use efficiency was significant, between nitrogen levels, obtaining average values of 71.09 kg of rice produced per kg of N applied and 46.72 kg of rice produced per kg N accumulated at levels 240 and 360 kg N ha-1 respectively. . La Puntilla also obtained the highest milling quality with 67.84% of whole grains. The experiment was conducted during the first semester of 2017, a period that was influenced by the occurrence of the El Niño phenomenon. For the cultivars under study, the continuous flood irrigation system is more favorable for obtaining high yields. As part of the results, the intermittent dry system with a dose of 240 kg N ha-1 and the La Puntilla cultivar was the best adapted, considering it the best technological option for the conditions in which the experiment was carried out in the Jequetepeque Valley.
