The cold sensation in Puno increases in periods of frost. Therefore, the present research aims to compare the thermal behavior of both houses built by the National Rural Housing Plan and traditional houses built by locals, then based on this results some modifications are proposed in order to comply with thermal comfort requirements. Thus, the monitoring of temperatures in two sample homes during four entirely days with one-hour interval with the DataLogger equipment. The evaluation of these results determined that the houses lose more heat flow through material conduction; based on the corresponding analysis and proposed measures of correctness of the thermal conditioning such as: the correctness of the orientation of the walls, windows and door; adding the insulation of materials such as expanded polystyrene (tecnopor) on the walls, polyblock and clay cake on the ceiling; protection in the windows; decreasing the level of ceiling by placing a false ceiling for reducing the volume of circulating air flow; and build an airlock on the entrance to the house to control air volume and flow. Through these changes and recommendations, indoor temperature increases up to 1.7 ºC.
