The present research is of the strategic type – Non-experimental, since it arises from the interest of interpreting the timescale variation of the date of PM10, PM2.5, CO, NO2 and SO2 recorded in the monitoring stations of Downtown Lima, East Lima. North and South Lima of the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (SENAMHI) and compared with values of the Environmental Quality Standard for air (ECA air) and the guide value established by the World Health Organization (WHO). In this sense, when evaluating the impact of the year-end celebrations on air quality in the metropolitan area of Lima, from 2013 to 2021; the results for particulate matter obtained showed that, are the New Year holidays where the maximum concentration values were presented, mainly in the years 2016 and 2017; also, the stations of Downtown Lima registered the least impact on air quality for the year-end celebrations, not exceeding the value of the ECA air; as for the hourly evolution of PM10 and PM2.5, the maximum values were recorded in midnight hours until 3 to 4am the following day. In terms of the results for the average daily concentration of CO, SO2 and NO2, in the stations of East Lima, Downtown Lima, South Lima and North Lima, the ECA air was not exceeded, nor the guide value of the WHO in the period under evaluation. Lastly, it is recommended to awareness-raising campaigns for the general population about the dangers of the use of fireworks in celebrations, the environmental damage or environmental pollution generated by this activity, and the risks to public health.
