In the present investigation, the treatments used to evaluate the response of the rice crop to water stress were: 0, -10, -15, -20 kPa of soil moisture tension for (T0, T1, T2 and T3) with a variation of ±2 kPa respectively. The treatments were carried out in the vegetative phenological phase of tillering and the beginning of the reproductive phase, in the rest of the crop development the humidity was maintained with values close to field capacity in all the treatments. The variety of rice was IR-71706 cultivated between the months of November 2017 to April 2018 within the UNALM campus. The variables evaluated were: the growth of the plant, the number of tillers per plant throughout the crop, and after harvesting the yield, yield components (number of panicles per m2, number of filled grains per panicle, and weight of grains) were evaluated. thousand full grains), root depth, water productivity and the water stress coefficient (Ks). Plant height was very sensitive to water deficit, presenting significant differences between most treatments except the relationship between T2 and T3, the difference between T0 and T1 was 10 cm, the same does not occur in tillering where only the treatment T1 has a greater number of tillers and the rest of the stress treatments (T2 and T3) reduced their number. With respect to the performance, the treatment without stress (T0) obtained an average yield of 10.29 t ha-1 with a reduction of 9, 34.2 and 35.4 percent, with respect to the treatments T1, T2 and T3. The treatments that have the highest number of panicles and number of filled grains per panicle were T0 and T1. The water productivity was 1.12 kg m-3 for T0; 1.07, 0.8 and 0.81 kg m-3 for T1, T2 and T3. The water stress coefficients of the experiment were 0.91, 0.66 and 0.64 in T1, T2 and T3 respectively
