The importance of standardization processes has motivated the establishment of various Standardization Bodies, among which are the National Standardization Bodies (ONN), which, according to the International Standardization Body (ISO), seek to satisfy the country's standardization needs interested. On the other hand, the World Trade Organization (WTO) has established six principles that are guidelines in the elaboration of international standards; Likewise, ISO has made a guide available to the ONNs to support the application of the decision of the Committee on the World Trade Organization, endorsing the principles of standardization of the WTO, which are the following: Transparency, Openness, Impartiality and Consensus, Effectiveness and Relevance, Coherence, and Development Dimension. The objective of this research has been to design a set of performance indicators so that the National Standards Organizations can ensure compliance with the principles of standardization, achieving administrative efficiency in the effective development of their activities, for which reason the research has been exploratory , taking into account the fact that this type of research has not been carried out at the local level, and at the regional level (Latin America), studies related to the problem to be investigated are scarce; likewise, this thesis is applied research, because the results seek to solve practical problems, with a limited margin of generalization, since it is only applicable to the National Standards Organizations. This document presents as a result a total of 21 indicators that allow the compliance by the ONN of the Principles of Standardization to be measured, thus concluding the need to adopt these as a management instrument to continuously improve performance of the referred ONN.
